Bio: The son of two reasonably affluent fur merchants, Boey grew up in a nice neighbourhood in Hawk’s Roost and was well educated, showing a lot of aptitude for words from an early age. Though well off, Boey’s family was not rich and they worried they wouldn’t be able to pay to educate him as much as he would clearly benefit from, and therefore called in some favours to have their son considered as one of the candidates to be companion to the second DiGorre prince. After Boey became Franz’s companion his education took off, not only in literature but in all things, and now he’s a high-level political operative in his own right. Now living in the north, Boey misses home and worries he’ll soon miss his best friend, but he’s doing his best to build a new life up there.
Notes:
- Boey has spent most of his time up north worrying he’s about to lose his best friend. Lately this fear has been alleviated somewhat
- When Franz gets interested in something, Boey makes it a point to learn as much as he can about it very quickly. This isn’t out of a desire to compete but rather a desire to help Franz if he needs it
- Though he’s often embarrassed at how much money Franz spends on gifts for him, Boey treasures everything Franz has ever given him
- Boey has always wanted to have children
- Boey writes to his parents and brother every week. He won’t admit it’s because he’s afraid they’ll forget him
- Boey is a widely read poet in Hawk’s Roost under a pseudonym. He never thought the poetry collection he sent out would be of interest to anyone and is mortified at how widely it circulated
- Boey is not particularly sensitive to temperature at all. It has to be very hot before he notices, and very cold before it bothers him
- Boey’s greatest fear is loneliness
- Boey is happy Franz considers Frederick and Silas their brothers, but in his quiet moments he prefers to think of them as his and Franz’s children
- Boey thought he’d never love anyone but Franz. He’s a bit surprised by how strongly he feels about Hector
Quotes:
- “The girl we’ve never met before is a princess, you made me come, and you’re going to marry her so I can laugh at you.”
- “Lords and ladies, I present to you your future king. Yes, I know he’s on the floor in his underclothes being licked by a dog, but really, he’s a serious leader with your best interests at heart.”
- “Alas, not all of us can naturally sound like an idiot.”
- “Hiding around the corner so he couldn’t see me was one of the worst feelings of my life. I don’t want to do that again if I can avoid it.”
- “I do think you need to consider the possibility that not everyone plans at a fifty-step remove. Some people are straightforward.”
- “I talk to him about espionage, politics, history, literature, math, writing and general comportment. You talk to him about how to fight with a sword and, well, how to play with a sword.”
- “You know, sometimes I really worry about the fact that the world is run by people like you. And that any part of it is run by you especially.”
- “You should be mean to your friends every so often, just so they don’t get too used to you being nice.”
- “You should yell. You should. You should be angry. Your family was attacked. You should be furious. You should burn half the world down. You should yell and scream and break everything and cry so much because it hurts. You should be angry, Franz. Just, maybe not at me.”
- “You’re kind of useless. Good thing you’re pretty and rich.”
- “If you’d attempted a coup, I’d have helped you too. And set up a plan for if it didn’t work.”
- “I want us to stay together after you marry Gabrielle, Franz.”
- “If you really supported me, you’d support me by never talking to my boyfriend ever.”
Trivia:
- Given the opportunity, Boey would eat eggs with every meal
- Boey was prone to warts on his fingers as a child, but he hasn’t had any in several years now
- Boey refused to wear clothes in private until just a few years ago, and often had to be heavily convinced to wear them in public as well
- All of Boey’s sexual firsts were with Franz, the very first of which was Boey’s idea when he convinced Franz they should rub their dicks together when they were eight
- Boey has never quite given up his childhood fantasy of having a pet scorpion, just because he thinks it would be super cool
- Boey used to carry Uriah around even after Uriah was old enough to walk on his own
- Boey’s ultimate tactic to win arguments with Franz has always been to get Dragon on his side
- Boey is allergic to silver
- As a young teenager, Boey tried very hard to cure Franz’s interest in girls by giving him blowjobs every time he mentioned it, which he stopped doing when he realized Franz had caught on
- Felix’s companion Julius always treated Boey like a little brother, which Boey pretended to hate but secretly made him feel a lot less lonely
Modern AU: Modern Boey has been Franz’s best friend since Franz lent him a pair of underwear at a park when they were seven years old, and his boyfriend ever since he and Franz went on a date to Dairy Queen when they were nine. Boey was the one who told Franz to accept his arranged marriage to a wealthy heiress, figuring they could work something out, which he was right about, of course. He currently attends university full time, where he studies English and specifically global poetry, and works part-time as Franz’s chief of staff now that Franz has stupidly gone and gotten himself elected to parliament. When not managing Franz’s life, his own new relationship with his boyfriend Hector or learning new languages to read poetry in, Boey tries to keep up with what’s going on in the world of anime, tutors high schoolers in literature, and serves as secretary for the city’s Pride committee.
Allergic to silver, hmm? And the child of fur merchants…
I assume there is werewolfery in either Boey’s ancestry or his future.
