Bio: The oldest surviving son of a psychotic mass-murdering sorcerer patriarch, Spencer was born in a stable in White Cape to the woman his father had raped, imprisoned and tormented for over a year. After he was born, Spencer was allowed to nurse at his mother’s breast for a few minutes before Solomon killed her, assessed his new son for sorcerous power, and left White Cape with Spencer in his arms. Spencer grew up in different safehouses and holds with his father, who was mostly fairly kind to him, and his siblings, who kept diminishing in number. When they ended up in Ech’kent, Spencer hoped that would create some stability for him, and it did for many years, until he was ordered to infiltrate Three Hills’s mage academy to keep an eye on the chosen one. There, free from his father for the first time, Spencer decided to betray him, choosing to side with the academy and the chosen one—and his boyfriend—against him, only to discover that he was dead and that he was now enemies with his only living brother.   

Notes:

• Spencer is a competent but not stellar sorcerer who always excelled more in fine control than brute strength. Now that he’s not with his father, he’s able to practice types of magic he’s actually good at and is improving a lot
• Spencer had a close relationship with his nearest sister Selma, who Solomon killed when Spencer was eleven, thinking that the two of them were plotting against him. He was careful not to be too close to any of his other siblings after that, even though he wanted to
• Spencer has been a vegetarian since he was nine and watched a pig be slaughtered
• Like all of Solomon’s sons, Spencer has a history of having raped girls and women his father sent to him. He thinks about those women regularly and how he hurt them, and about what he knows his father did to them after
• Aside from keeping an eye on the chosen one, Spencer wasn’t sure what he was at the academy to do, so he kept detailed notes on all his fellow students and all the faculty and their abilities for several weeks.
• Spencer’s being roommates with Isaac and Peter was a genuine coincidence, and he credits that coincidence with giving him the courage to decide to break with his father

Modern AU: Modern Spencer is the son of a mob boss who was sent undercover to infiltrate a private school and spy on the students there as part of a tuition-doctoring scheme, but chose to become a police informant, changing his name and staying registered in the school because it gave him the opportunity to escape his family. Spencer used to want to be a cop, but seeing how rampant police corruption is has made him want to be a lawyer instead, and he spends much of his free time reading about law. When he’s not studying or trying to be a normal person with normal friends and a normal boyfriend, Spencer like violent video games, ergodic fiction and horses, and can often be found online defending artists’ right to express themselves, and reading about local history.
